International Mother Language Day

Printing, workshops and presentations. Free entry!

On borders, people dream

In the context of International Mother Tongue Day, Stadscanvas (Fameus), Sint Lucas Antwerp, Museum Plantin-Moretus and Plantin Institute of Typography have put their heads together to work on a trajectory and program on the 21st of February 2024. Bachelor students from St Lucas Antwerp's elective course 'Letters in a multilingual world' worked with artistic newcomers from Stadscanvas and wrote a community poem. The results will be printed on the replica press at Museum Plantin-Moretus on February 21. You’re welcome to join this printing session and join the workshops given by Iman Sajirati en Mohammad Tamim Sahibzada of Stadscanvas that same afternoon. For the evening program we’d like to invite you at St Lucas Antwerp. We look forward to the presentations by designers Mirjam Somers and Garine Gokceyan, and historian Joran Proot. The presentations will touch on different dimensions of (book and letter) design whilst working with multiple scripts, but also touch upon social-political aspects such as the life of a 'diasporic script'.
