Early printed books in Antwerp

The Plantin-Moretus Museum and the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library (Antwerp) are pleased to launch a new call for applications for our fellowship programme. We will award two travel grants for research into the history of the early printed book (15th-18th century) in Antwerp, with the gracious support of the Thierry and Frédéric Nottebohm Grant of the Nottebohm Family Foundation.

From lead to pixel - Graphic (r)evolutions in Belgium brings together five printing museums in Belgium. Each of the five museums takes a unique look at various aspects of Belgian printing history.

Organisation

Christophe Plantin ensured that the Officina Plantiniana was handed down to the most competent choice of successor. The Moretuses took control. They kept things going for eleven generations with great expertise. Just like the Museum staff today. They look after the house and its collection with pride. The Print Cabinet

The Print Cabinet of the Museum Plantin-Moretus has more than 20,000 drawings. This rich collection is among the finest in the world, and focuses on Antwerp artists from 1500 to the present.
