Museum Plantin-Moretus

Three hundred years of printing history

The Museum Plantin-Moretus will be closed for renovation work from 3 August to 4 December. During the closure, we will also be updating the permanent exhibition.

Museum Plantin-Moretus closed from 3 August to 4 December

After 10 years, our permanent exhibition is due for a refresh. During the closure, we will be working on an updated visitor route, a new exhibition design, and a visitor app. With all these innovations, we aim to make the story of the printing house and the Plantin-Moretus family more accessible to a wider audience.

The reading room will remain open as usual. Please note that it may be cold inside due to the ongoing works in the building. We recommend wearing a coat or sweater.

The family business at the dawn of printing

This isn't a museum, this is a home. A house where nine generations lived and worked. The Plantin-Moretus family were revolutionary printers. The first atlas, regal bibles, cutting-edge scientific books: they were all printed under this roof. And the books are still here. As if the work day has only just ended. The living quarters have been preserved as well, creaking floor boards included. Browse centuries-old books, roll up your sleeves at the printing press or immerse yourself in gripping stories.

You are most welcome.
