Follow in Guicciardini's footsteps

Go back in time with an experienced city guide, to the city of Antwerp in the 16th century.

Follow in Guicciardini's footsteps

In Guicciardini's footsteps

Lodovico Guicciardini, an Italian merchant who settles in this city, describes in detail the life in the cities of the Netherlands of that time. He wrote the first complete city atlas of our region. It proved a great success.

During this walk in the center of the city, you will look at it through the eyes of Guicciardini. It will be a unique experience! At each stop you will hear text fragments and see pictures from his book. How did this Italian look at Antwerp and its inhabitants? And do we still recognise ourselves in his descriptions today?
