Guide to the museum

Explore the home and business of the Plantins and the Moretuses on your own, with a visitor’s guide, audio tour, or audio play.

Floor plan and visitor's guide

The visitor’s guide directs you through the museum and gives you more background information. Do you not have much time? Use the floor plan to discover the highlights of the museum in an hour.

The highlights

Visit the Plantin-Moretus Museum in an hour using the floor plan. This plan will guide you through the highlights of the museum. You will receive the floor plan at the start of your visit.

We also offer the floor plan in Spanish, Dutch, French and German.

Taking a little more time

Would you like to take a little more time over your visit? Then use our visitor’s guide to show you around. We deliberately kept explanations in the museum limited so you can enjoy the most authentic visit possible. The visitor’s guide can be used as a supplement if you would like some more information.

Or download all the texts here (pdf)

We also offer the visitor's guide in Spanish, Russian, Dutch, French and German.

Audio play and audio guide

What if you are not much of a reader? You can make use of our audio tour or audio play.

Audio play

Using new three-dimensional audio techniques, this audio will make it seem as if you have travelled through time and entered a bustling house and publishing company. The audio play is not a classic audio tour; it brings the rooms and its (former) residents to life in an amusing way. You can read more about the audio play.

Audio guide

For those who enjoy listening to the story of founder Christophe Plantin and his successors, the Moretus family, there is the tour entitled ‘Plantin visionary publisher’. Available in English, French, German and Dutch.
